I met with the SBA woman again yesterday. She really thinks that this is going to be a great venture. Fort Scott really needs to have a bakery/patissere. Anyhow, its great to have this site to communicate with everyone. I am putting together a food album and it will be posted soon!

Learn to Ride, Jump, Show

I also teach hunt seat riding for beginners to intermediate. Hunt seat is a great way for a rider to develop their seat, balance, and posture. It can be carried over to almost any riding discipline. I have conducted riding clinics with the Vernon County Horse Association and am available to teach lessons privately. I have been riding for over 15 years, competing proffesionally for over ten years, and have trained with some really great people. I am expecting a baby in a few weeks, and havent been able to ride my own horses for some time. I will be available to teach soon.

Group rate 4 or more (Duration 1 hour) = $25 per student
*Private lesson (Duration 45 minutes)= $35 per student*
Spring and summer camp = $85 per student full time, $40 per student half time
Specialty clinic’s= jumping clinic $30 per student, vaulting clinic $30 per student, cross country clinic $30 per student, hunt clinic $30 per student
Training fee= $500.00 / month
Selection and finder’s fee= $300.00
Leasing fee= (f) 200.00 per month (h) 100.00/ less than half per week 45.00.


*Private lessons are great for those who want to develop a certain confidence level before they enter a group lesson. However, group lessons are more instructive in that the students not only learn from the instructor, they learn from each other.*

His face is etched and weathered. His hands are callused and gnarled from wear. His step is still spry, He's got a look in his eye, Though the years have whitened his hair.
I heard this old cowboy a talkin' To a young buckaroo in the fray. Who was just starting out, To find what life was about Living the "cowboy" way.
The old man said "I could have read about being a cowboy. All about roping and riding for a brand.
But for me, what it took Why, I couldn't have got from no book. It took years to make this waddie a hand.

There are some that are. And some that ain't. And some just wannabe.
There are some, that all they can do is talk. While others, quietly live a life and whose actions speak loud enough for me.
There are some that think wearing a cowboy hat, buckle and boots makes the man.
While others know it's what's inside the head and the heart that makes the man "A Hand."
Now there are some who get dressed-up on weekends and play cowboy just for fun.
Yet for others, it's a seven-day-a-week lifestyle and the only job they've ever done.
There are some, that have absolutely no business being around livestock.
Why, they can't tell which end is coming or going.
While a few, can read reams in:
the look of an eye, the cock of an ear and sometimes with nary a sign a showing. Now, the some that are - sure enough are! And some that ain't - ain't! And that's a given
And the wannabes?
Well, they are highly irritating! But they help western stores and Horse traders make a decent livin'

Echoes of the Trail

Well the event went well. We set up inside of Fort Scott Community college across the way from a wild west cookery. They provided the meats and we provided the sweets. The rum creme pie went over well, so too did the fruit salad and the fresh baked breads.
For some reason the whoopie pies were not that well received at this event.
Chuck wagon cookery abounded, the smells of metal begin forged on an anvil, coupled with the "twang" of the cowboys made the event a true tribute to the "Old West" The vendors lined the inside of the hallways, volunteers worked to keep the event running smoothly.
The day was all in all a great time for everyone.

Meeting

Well today I am meeting with the SBA to try and get some funding for my dream buisness. I am not sure when we are starting but we will definately be at the Cowboy Poetry event at Fort Scott Community College. This event is going to be great. I think that everyone should check it out. Not only will there be my baked items (fresh breads, bagels, cakes, cookies, and the unusual) but there will be old fashioned chuck wagon cooking and music. Its a must see event.
